I love diving in Emerald Bay. First, the setting is spectacular. And, the only practical way to get there is by boat, so you’re usually diving alone.

The barges are designated as an historical site so don’t take anything or damage it, move it or anything else that would alter it’s condition. There’s a plaque commemorating something about the historical significance of the site somewhere on the barge, which I personally think is stupid. I don’t know why everything has to have a plaque stuck to it.  I’d rather see the site as it was when it hit the bottom, but that’s just me.

The dive itself is easy and shallow. I think you can see it all and never dip below thirty feet, but I haven’t been there in a while. I’ll probably dive it in the next week or two, so I’ll report back after that.
