It’s not a huge surprise considering the rising popularity of closed circuit rebreathers, but it is nevertheless momentous that PADI will begin providing instructional programs for CCR. I haven’t paid any attention to the buzz surrounding the move, but I personally believe it is very positive.
PADI has no doubt done a staggering amount of research into the learning process as well as safety issues, etc. that revolve around CCR. Say what you want, but PADI has resources that no other organization I know of possibly could. As a result, better research will, I believe, result in more reliable data and promote a safer version of the sport overall.
At least that’s my feeling. I am interested to hear yours.
